The process of dissecting old, unwanted footballs and inverting them, exposing the grotty insides references the dirty side of the worlds most popular sport, specifically the FIFA corruption scandal uncovered in 2015. Each of the 14 footballs represent one of the FIFA officals indicted. Re-constructing the balls by sewing them back together as a whole compromises their integrity and removes their function and sole purpose. The sinuous shapes created, contradict the original construction rational of using hexagons & pentagons, as they are intended fit together like a puzzle to form a perfectly spherical shape.
